DB2 Database Administrator

About the role

Contract position located in McLean, VA (with 3 days onsite in McLean, VA and Dallas, TX). Duration: 6+ months with possible extension or conversion. Background check required.

Responsibilities

• Database Administrator Senior Oracle, DB2 database design, including architecture, installation procedures, build and configuration standards.
• Design and Setup High Availability Database Replication and Infrastructure
• Database Administration and troubleshooting of database issues, including production performance and outage scenarios.
• Develop database patch/version upgrade roadmap, scalable deployment automation.
• Database maintenance automation using Ansible, SHELL, python.
• Execute Database Upgrades, resolve upgrade related issues.
• Provide on-call support on rotation as per schedules.

Requirements

• More than 5+ years of experience in Oracle/DB2 Database administration
• In depth understanding of Oracle/DB2 Database technology, standard patterns, and best practices.
• Extensive Oracle/DB2 Database performance tuning experience
• Deep knowledge of industry‑standard, enterprise‑class best practices for a large database environment.
• Good understanding of Linux platform
• Deep understanding of HA, DR Database, and storage technologies as they relate to oracle/DB2.
• Experience implementing, supporting, and auditing database security in Oracle/DB2
• Experience with Unix/Linux OS platform and Unix Shell/Perl scripting and automation

Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working in virtual environment using VMware.
• Database vendor certification
