Responsibilities

• Classroom Management
• Maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
• Move students as required by teachers.
• Develop and reinforce school-wide rules and expectations.
• Ensure smooth operation of all classroom instructional functions.
• Knowledge of Subject Matter
• Communicate accurate knowledge of subject matter in a comprehensible manner.
• Apply concepts, laws, and rules relevant to subject matter.
• Demonstrate breadth of subject matter knowledge.
• Use current references, materials, and technologies of the subject field.
• Check student comprehension and provide accurate feedback.
• Planning for Instruction
• Design the academic program based on assessed student needs.
• Prepare instructional materials.
• Assist in preparation and implementation of lesson plans.
• Delivery of Instruction
• Provide academic assistance and support for individual and/or small groups.
• Afford access to media and technology in the classroom.
• Deliver lessons in the absence of the teacher.
• Engage students using consistent practices and individualized methods.
• Offer varied instructional techniques and opportunities.
• Assessment of Student Performance
• Administer appropriate assessments to measure student progress.
• Evaluate student progress regularly and provide feedback to students and parents.
• Communication
• Establish and maintain cooperative relations with other employees.
• Communicate with students and parents about academic and behavioral progress.
• Prepare progress reports for school personnel and parents.
• Professional Development
• Continue professional growth through educational inservice, meetings, and professional literature.
• Other Professional Responsibilities
• Protect students, materials, equipment, and facilities.
• Ensure necessary records are available for each student.
• Perform other responsibilities as directed.

Requirements

• All employees must be fingerprinted and pass a background screening process.
• Desired Qualifications include an associate’s degree, 60 hours of college/university level coursework, 3 years of instructional assistant experience, or demonstrated proficiency on district assessment.
