What You’ll Do

• Cutting fruits/Vegetables and helping in the preparation of Hot lunches and daily food production
• Receiving and storage of deliveries as related to the commissary kitchen
• Effective storage, management, and safe rotation (FIFO) of all products
• Ensuring safe food storage and disposal, including taking daily logs of food temperature, sanitizer temperature, and refrigerator/freezer temperatures
• Following the FIFO (First in First Out) rule and rotating inventory as required
• Complies with all health and hygiene requirements under all food safety and handling legislation
• Following proper washing and sanitizing procedures for all dishware after collection from classrooms
• Absorbing kitchen operations, including scheduled cleaning and sanitizing of appliances, counters, cupboards, and drawers
• Absolutely necessary to prepare food for field trips, school-age programs, and community events from time to time
• Ad hoc duties may be assigned

Who You Are

• High School diploma/GED equivalency required
• 1 - 2 years of Kitchen Assistant-related experience
• Valid driver's license and a clean driver’s abstract
• Current Food Handler Certification or willing to get
• Clear background checks and up-to-date health assessments
• Ability to push, pull and lift to 45 pounds
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to take initiative and problem-solve effectively

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with vulnerable populations
• Experience working with children
