Day Maintenance Technician

Essential Functions

• Build, repair, and install counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, building framework, and trim.
• Maintain and care for school district's grounds.
• Prune trees and trim hedges.
• Mow lawn.
• Adjust and repair equipment.
• Shovel snow from sidewalks and driveways and spread ice melt, sand, and salt to prevent slipping.
• Repair playground equipment and benches district wide.
• Assemble and deliver furniture.
• Work inside during winter doing assigned custodian jobs and maintenance projects.
• Assists with special projects.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Two (2) years of general or related experience preferred

• Computer literate
• Excellent written and oral communication ability
• Follows all district policies and procedures
• Works independently, displays initiative and enthusiasm for the tasks being done
• Communicates effectively with supervisor, school personnel, team members, and administrators
• Manages confidential information in a manner that respects students, families, and employees
• Learns and applies common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions
• Interprets an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deals with several abstract and concrete variables
• Current driver's license in good standing

Physical Demands

• Frequently stands, walks, uses hands to finger, handle or feel
• Occasionally sits, reaches with hands and arms, stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls
• Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 40 pounds
• Frequent exposure to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, chemicals or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration
• Frequent exposure to noise levels in the work environment that is usually moderate
