Day Camp Counselor

Essential Responsibilities

• Guide group or individuals in activity plans.
• Implement program plans as assigned by the director / assistant director.
• Participate and take a leadership role in all planned activities.
• Help with the maintenance of all areas used by the day camp.
• Conform to the weekly schedule and attend all staff meetings.
• Responsible for the care and well-being of program participants, including implementing emergency procedures.
• Identify and meet individual camper needs.
• Monitor campers during both large and small group activities.
• Work with the appropriate staff in solving problems between campers.
• Inform the Summer Day Camp Director of any staff or camper problems.
• Work with Day Camp Director/Assistant Director to plan and execute daily.
• Recognize and provide opportunities for group interaction, problem solving, and decision making.
• Complete all paperwork and administrative duties as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Education/Experience: High School diploma / GED preferred or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Previous experience working with youth.
• Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Some knowledge or training and education in food handling and food service operations; Basic knowledge of computer systems; Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office 365 (preferred).
• Certificates And Licenses: Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed; Current First Aid / CPR certification, or ability to be certified within 30 days.
