Essential Responsibilities
- Guide group or individuals in activity plans.
- Implement program plans as assigned by the director / assistant director.
- Participate and take a leadership role in all planned activities.
- Maintain all areas used by the day camp.
- Attend all staff meetings and conform to the weekly schedule.
- Implement emergency procedures and identify and meet individual camper needs.
- Monitor campers during both large and small group activities.
- Solve problems between campers with the appropriate staff.
- Inform the Summer Day Camp Director of any staff or camper problems.
- Plan and execute daily activities with the Day Camp Director/Assistant Director.
- Serve lunch and snacks as needed.
- Recognize and provide opportunities for group interaction, problem solving, and decision making.
- Complete all paperwork and administrative duties as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Education/Experience: High School diploma / GED or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Previous experience working with youth is preferred.
- Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Some knowledge or training and education in food handling and food service operations; basic knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft Office 365; complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed; have and maintain a current valid driver’s license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (preferred); current First Aid / CPR certification, or ability to be certified within 30 days.
