Day Camp Counselor

Essential Responsibilities

• Supervise an assigned group of youth ages 5-11 on site and on field trips.
• Responsible for the care and well-being of program participants, being aware of and following all safety precautions and procedures, including administering emergency first aid as needed and recording such treatment with proper documentation.
• Responsible for knowing Safe From Harm program guidelines and following them.
• Responsible for adhering to state childcare licensing guidelines, as instructed by supervisors.
• MEDIATE any behavior problems between campers that may arise.
• Responsible for the implementation of program plans as assigned by the Community Center Director or assigned activity leads.
• Willingness to participate and take a leadership role in all planned activities such as Bible study, swimming, group games, crafts, and music and more.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of all areas and resources used by the day camp program.
• Conform to the weekly schedule and attend all staff meetings.
• Complete all paperwork and administrative duties as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Education/Experience: High School diploma/GED or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Previous experience working with youth.
• Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Ability to lead and participate in group activities; Ability to complete basic paperwork and documentation accurately; Ability to model positive behavior; Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of computer systems; Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office 365 (preferred); Certificates And Licenses: Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed; Current First Aid / CPR certification, or ability to be certified within 30 days; Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR).
