Davis Pediatric Volunteer Job Duties

• Assist with coordination of food distribution program (Food Pharmacy)
• Greets participants and take basic information for reporting purposes
• Aid in inventory of food received and distributed
• Sort donated food, inspect, and pack perishable and non-perishable food for distribution
• Aid in assembling grocery bags to be distributed
• Maintain "menu" of available items based on inventory
• Aid in setting up and breaking down of the food distribution table/area
• Aid in entering data into the food distribution system
• Aid in promoting literacy in the clinic
• Read in the waiting room and distribute "Reach Out & Read" books to families
• Review tips on promoting early childhood literacy
• Maintain child and adult literacy resources handouts in the clinic
• Shadow physicians for those interested

Requirements

• Ability to work with patients with limited English fluency and/or low literacy
• Customer service and friendly disposition
• Ability to multitask

Other Notes

Please be able to commit to at least one 4-hour clinic a week
