About the role
CGI Federal has an exciting opportunity for a Database Engineer within our Intel sector. Advancing the national security mission through cutting-edge technology, the Database Engineer designs, develops, and manages database systems, ensuring they are efficient, reliable, and secure.
Responsibilities
Creating and modifying database schemas, writing SQL code, and implementing database structures based on project requirements.
Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, optimizing queries, and implementing indexing strategies to improve database efficiency.
Implementing security measures, such as encryption and access controls, to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access.
Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as backups, upgrades, and patching, to ensure data integrity and availability.
Working with software engineers, system engineers, and other teams to integrate database systems with applications and other infrastructure components.
Diagnosing and resolving database-related issues, including performance problems, connectivity issues, and data integrity problems.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and/or 0 to 2 years of experience
Active TS/SCI and the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with CI Poly.
Strong knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS) like MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) for querying, manipulating, and managing data.
Experience with data modeling techniques, such as logical and physical data modeling, and the ability to translate business requirements into database designs.
Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and their database services.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve database-related issues.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with other teams.
