The primary duties
- Review NIBRS/FIBRS error reports returned by FDLE
- Analyze reports and related documentation to identify discrepancies or missing data elements
- Determine best course of action to handle errors or rejections
- Communicate with business users to obtain clarification or additional information as needed
- Maintain working knowledge of NIBRS/FIBRS reporting guidelines and updates
- Maintain working knowledge of Florida Statutes
- Perform data entry into internal application for any requests asking for new or updated statutes
- Make any necessary stored procedure changes to ensure FDLE submissions are in compliance with business rules
- Effectively test any upgrades or changes to submission process
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Thorough understanding of a TSQL database language (e.g. SQL)
- Experience with data management
- Experience with reporting and query tools
- Familiar with warehousing and analysis
- Understanding of development in a multi-system environment
- Knowledge of ETL processes
Preferred Technical Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Requirements
- Transaction application database knowledge
- Data Warehouse experience
- Knowledge of FIBRS/NIBRS reporting standards and law enforcement records processes
- Experience working with a law enforcement Records Management System (RMS)
- Ability to interpret Florida Statutes and apply appropriate offense codes
Requirements/Supplemental Information
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent work experience
- 1-5 years IT operation with understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
- 1-3 years Microsoft SQL Server experience or comparable enterprise DB experience
Additional Requirements
- Must be available to work during limited emergency declarations as prescribed by the City of Jacksonville Civil Service and Personnel Rules and Regulations
- Must be available to respond to telephone calls, meetings, and unexpected situations outside of normal work hours until situations are resolved
- Must maintain existing knowledge and skills through continuing education
- Must have a personal standard of high attention to detail in all work tasks
- Must work well as part of a team and/or as an individual depending on the task at hand
- Must be flexible with changing, and often unexpected, work demands to meet the operational needs of the agency
