About the role
We are seeking a Database Administrator to join our team. This role focuses on the support of IBM DB2 for z/OS and related replication products. The position requires participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation and the ability to provide support during off-hours as needed. The successful candidate will interface with support teams, software vendors, and management, requiring strong communication and analytical skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform software installation, version upgrades, and apply maintenance for IBM DB2 for z/OS and Replication products (Qrep, SQLrep, and CDC).
- Conduct certification testing for new software and upgrades.
- Develop and maintain documentation for operational procedures.
- Participate in disaster recovery testing exercises.
- Provide on-call support as part of a 24x7 rotation schedule.
- Collaborate with support teams, vendors, and management on technical issues.
- Utilize analytical and debugging skills to resolve complex database problems.
Requirements
- Experience with IBM DB2 for z/OS and Replication products (Qrep, SQLrep, and CDC), including software installation, upgrades, maintenance, and testing.
- Ability to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and provide off-hours support.
- Developed written and oral communication skills for interfacing with various teams.
- Analytical and debugging skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with software support for BMC for DB2 Tools, IBM z/OS Connect, and Software AG ADABAS and Natural products.
- Programming experience with REXX.
- Working knowledge of SQL, JIRA, SMP/E, RACF, TCP/IP, network certificates, and Splunk.
- Working knowledge of other Mainframe Subsystems such as CICS, IMS, or MQ.
