Database Administrator II
About the role
We are seeking a Database Administrator with extensive experience to support application DBA functions. The role involves DDL creation, SQL scripting, problem research, and change deployments. The ideal candidate will work independently to support multiple Teradata systems across development, disaster recovery, and production environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
Responsibilities
- Support Application DBA functions including DDL creation, SQL scripting, problem research, change deployments, and on-call rotation support.
- Assist with the design, development, implementation, and documentation of automated DBA processes using Teradata and Unix/Linux scripting.
- Support multiple Teradata systems, including development/UAT, disaster recovery, and enterprise warehouse production environments.
- Implement and administer access policies in conjunction with corporate standards.
- Support Mainframe administrative functions, including archive processing and job scheduling.
- Manage, design, and consult on storage management, archiving, restoration, and disaster recovery practices.
- Collaborate with application project teams on the implementation of database changes for large initiatives and business-as-usual work.
- Provide high-level weekly written status reports to management.
Requirements
- More than 10 years of experience as a Teradata DBA, with some experience in Teradata V17.20 or higher.
Skills
- Advanced working knowledge of Teradata RDBMS at both physical and logical levels.
- Advanced knowledge of Teradata tools: Teradata Studio, TDWM, BTEQ, ARCMAIN, FASTLOAD, MLOAD, TPUMP, TPT, DBQL, PDCR.
- Working knowledge of Mainframe interfaces and execution: TDP, JCL, TSO, ISPF, FICON, NDM.
- Working knowledge of Viewpoint, Teradata Data Mover, and Teradata BAR technology.
- Working knowledge of Unix/Linux scripting (KSH, BASH, PERL).
- Working knowledge of job schedulers such as CA-7 and AutoSys.
- Working knowledge of QueryGrid, DSA, Taraserver, NPARC, and TASM.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Teradata Systems setup, GDO, DBSControl, and Multitool.
- Familiarity with REXX scripting.
- Familiarity with Hadoop and Cloud concepts and technologies.
- Familiarity with project and change management solutions like Agile, Remedy, and Ansible.
- Familiarity with replication technologies, such as Golden Gate.
