Database Administrator I
12-month contract with a large power and utilities client in Charlotte, NC. Potential for extension. W2 contract; candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.
About the role
The Database Analyst (also known as Database Administrator or DBA) works in the infrastructure side of the IT organization, focusing on installation and support of database management systems while adhering to best practices. This role supports production, staging, and/or quality assurance databases, ensuring availability, access, and security of associated data assets. The DBA consults with IT management and clients to identify opportunities for improved database maintenance, monitoring, security, backup, recovery, performance, and integrity. This individual may also provide technical database expertise and leadership to development teams.
Responsibilities
- Install and support database management systems.
- Ensure adherence to best practices for database operations.
- Maintain availability, access, and security of production, staging, and quality assurance databases.
- Consult on opportunities to improve database maintenance, monitoring, security, backup, recovery, performance, and integrity.
- Provide technical database expertise and leadership to development teams.
- Deliver high-level customer service in a collaborative environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or 6 years of related business experience in lieu of a degree.
- 1–3 years of work experience in addition to degree (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with sequential query language or equivalent in one or more database platforms (e.g., T-SQL, PL/SQL, Access SQL, Python).
- Experience with file structures, design, retrieval, and access methods.

Pay
$37.00 – $42.00/hour.
