About the Role
The Chief Engineer’s Office at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking a talented Database Administrator to implement and support SLAC’s transition from TeamCenter to PTC WindChill. This role will focus on PTC workflow creation from requirements through final implementation, data transfer between systems, and end-user support during the transition. Long-term, this role will serve as the first point of contact for user support, training, and onboarding into the new system. Additional tasks related to supporting the Chief Engineer’s office Labwide Toolkit may also be assigned.

Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and support relational database management systems (RDBMS) or PLM suite back end.
- Work on databases using intermediate-level database design and programming techniques.
- Perform resource and usage management (performance/optimization tuning).
- Manage backup/recovery services for data/database systems.
- Coordinate and monitor usage of the database or PLM suite, including potential security issues/vulnerabilities, and assure the integrity of the database or PLM suite.
- Perform ongoing and problem diagnostics, resolve operational and user problems, and interface with vendors on technical issues as required.
- Participate in the design, configuration, and implementation of new database or PLM suite environments, systems, and tools.
- Provide technical documentation on system setup and operational procedures for users.
- Maintain current knowledge of technology trends and their application in the marketplace.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience with the installation and operation of a relational database system and database applications or PLM suite.
- Experience with external user functions, internal systems services, and file system structures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of systems platform.
- Experience with installing and configuring relational database management systems software or PLM software suites.
- Extensive experience in database or PLM suite administration with proven ability to track and report on capacity, current utilization, projected growth, and general health of databases or PLM back end.
- Experience with database design and programming techniques such as views, triggers, and stored procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of database or PLM suite security protocols.
- Demonstrated knowledge of modeling techniques.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems of moderate scope independently, especially on networked computers of varying types and operating systems.
- Ability to work well independently or as a team member.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- SLAC is open to on-site and hybrid work options.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the PTC suite of software, specifically WindChill.
- Experience with TeamCenter is a plus.
