Data Visualization Specialist

About the role

This Data Visualization Specialist supports a client office that collaborates with internal/external offices to curate and contextualize enterprise level information about Sponsor resources and activities in support of corporate metrics and increasing workforce effectiveness. The position provides data analysis support to address complex business and intelligence questions at an enterprise level and translates complex, technical findings into an easily understood narrative.

Responsibilities

• Supports the curation and contextualization of enterprise level information about Sponsor resources and activities.
• Provides data analysis support to address complex business and intelligence questions at an enterprise level.
• Translates complex, technical findings into an easily understandable narrative.
• Uses Tableau and creates data visualization mockups, prototypes of visualizations, and documents work processes.
• Documents and demonstrates products to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Interprets data models and works with a variety of data sources and structures.
• Transforms, manipulates, and combines data using a programming language such as Python.
• Uses a data preparation tool such as Tableau Prep Builder.
• Uses Excel and SQL.

Requirements

• Experience using Tableau and creating data visualization mockups, prototypes of visualizations, and documenting work processes.
• Experience using a data preparation tool, such as Tableau Prep, is preferred.
• Desired experience with data derived from technical missions, taskings, collection, processing, analysis, or dissemination.
• Desired experience working with Sponsor business or mission data, Sponsor applications, or Sponsor database structures.
• Desired experience with the Sponsor’s data handling procedures.
• Desired experience with visualization tools such as Jupyter, Visio, Sharepoint, or Confluence.
• Desired experience with APIs.
• Desired experience using GitHub or similar version control systems.
• Desired experience using Python or R.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a Business analytics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or Information Systems or 4 years of relevant data analysis experience with the IC or military may substitute in lieu of degree.
