Data & Systems Manager
About the role
Green Sheep Group creates award-winning baby brands that parents love and trust, including Snüz and The Little Green Sheep. Built on the belief that parenting is made easier through a great night’s sleep, the company delivers sleep-centred solutions with a commitment to safety, quality, innovation, and contemporary design. As the business grows in the UK and internationally, it seeks an experienced Data & Systems Manager to take ownership of the systems, integrations, and data architecture that underpin operations.
Purpose
You will be responsible for GSG’s business systems, integrations, and data landscape, collaborating across departments with key stakeholders to ensure systems and data function effectively and efficiently. A major focus will be designing, building, and maintaining direct SaaS integrations across the technology stack, bringing more capability in-house for greater control, flexibility, and resilience while reducing reliance on third-party connectors and external developers.
Integration & Systems Development (Hands-On)
- Design, code, test, deploy, and maintain bespoke SaaS integrations using APIs and webhooks, connecting ERP, ecommerce, CRM, WMS, finance, product information, customer service, and BI systems.
- Replace third-party connectors with robust in-house integrations where there is clear commercial, operational, or technical benefit.
- Build secure, resilient, and maintainable integrations with effective monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Diagnose and resolve integration failures, data-flow issues, and system dependencies; provide hands-on systems administration, configuration, and user support where required.
Data & Reporting
- Improve the quality, consistency, and accessibility of data across the organisation, with clear ownership and appropriate governance.
- Develop reporting and management information capabilities that give teams timely, trusted, and useful information.
- Establish appropriate controls around access, data protection, cyber security, backup, and business continuity.
Strategy & Stakeholder Management
- Review current systems, integrations, and data flows; identify risks, gaps, and opportunities; and deliver a prioritised three-to-five-year roadmap aligned with commercial plans.
- Listen to stakeholders across the business and translate their requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Lead systems implementations, upgrades, and migrations end-to-end from requirements through development, testing, deployment, training, and adoption.
- Manage external technology partners, providers, and consultants while steadily building internal technical capability.
- Assess where new technologies, including AI, can create genuine business value.
Skills & Strengths
- Experience owning or managing business systems within a retail, ecommerce, consumer goods, or similarly fast-moving organisation.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting integrations in a production environment.
- Strong coding capability in a suitable integration language (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C# or similar).
- Strong working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, and common authentication approaches (API keys, OAuth 2.0).
- Experience of data transformation and mapping between systems, including validation, pagination, rate limits, failures, retries, and duplicates.
- Confidence working with SQL, relational databases, and data models.
- Understanding of cloud or serverless technologies used to host and run integrations.
- A track record of reviewing an existing technology landscape and turning findings into a pragmatic, prioritised roadmap, and of leading implementations or migrations through to adoption.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical subjects in straightforward language.
