EngineeringFull-time

About the role

We are a growing science and engineering team within Amazon Advertising, one of Amazon's fastest growing and most profitable businesses. Our charter is to define and deliver advertising products that drive discovery and sales, breaking fresh ground in product and technical innovations daily. Within the Advertising Sales organization, we are building a central AI/ML team to create new, science-backed services that transform how account teams operate. You will help build actionable insights and recommendations for advertising accounts and integrate Generative AI throughout end-to-end workflows to improve efficiency.

As part of our team, you will apply deep expertise in quantitative modeling—including statistical modeling, machine learning, experimentation, and causal inference—to refine models that inform account team operations. You will also apply generative AI within our ad sales support technologies and communicate complex technical approaches to diverse stakeholders and customers. This role offers the opportunity to work on iterative, long-term problems alongside a collaborative team of scientists and engineers.

Why you will love this opportunity

  • Amazon has invested heavily in building a world-class advertising business, driving billions in revenue and long-term growth for Amazon's Retail and Marketplace businesses.
  • Our solutions generate billions of ad impressions and millions of clicks daily, with a broad mandate to experiment and innovate.
  • You will influence customer-facing shopping experiences within one of Amazon’s fastest-growing businesses.
  • Turn customer needs into data science problems and actionable recommendations for product, engineering, and sales partners.
  • This role combines analytical rigor, technical strength, product focus, and business understanding.
  • Join a highly motivated, collaborative, and fun-loving team with an entrepreneurial spirit.

Responsibilities

  • Build and apply LLM-based solutions (retrieval-augmented generation, prompting, and agentic workflows) to solve Ad Sales problems and generate seller-facing insights and recommendations.
  • Translate ambiguous business problems into data science problems and build statistical and machine learning models that complement LLM workflows, such as ranking, retrieval evaluation, segmentation, and forecasting.
  • Analyze large, complex datasets, including conversation and LLM interaction data, to surface insights, quantify gaps, and identify opportunities to improve generative AI products.
  • Design and run experiments (A/B tests, offline and online evaluations, causal inference) and define metrics that measure the quality, accuracy, and business impact of LLM-driven solutions.
  • Write code (Python, SQL) to acquire, transform, and analyze data at scale, and partner with applied scientists and engineers to move solutions into production.
  • Present findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, and mentor junior data scientists on your team.
