Data Scientist, Prime Video Science

We're looking for a Data Scientist to help design experiments that ground our models in reality, evaluate the AI systems we build, and turn model and experiment results into actionable business insights.

About the role

The Prime Video Science team leverages machine learning, AI, and causal inference to inform major entertainment decisions—what content to create, license, or invest in. We build large-scale models that simulate global customer responses and directly shape business strategy. As a Data Scientist on this team, you will design and analyze experiments, evaluate AI systems, and conduct deep-dive analyses on models, experiments, and customer data. You’ll work closely with science to probe model behavior, pressure-test results, and build statistical or causal models where needed. Strong communication is key: you’ll translate complex analyses into clear findings for both technical and business audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze randomized experiments to validate and calibrate models and measure the impact of content and product changes.
• Build evaluations and benchmarks for AI systems, defining what "good" performance looks like.
• Run deep-dive analyses on model outputs, experiment results, and customer behavior to uncover insights and catch issues before they reach stakeholders.
• Apply statistical modeling, causal inference, and data analysis to answer business questions and inform major investment decisions.
• Communicate findings to business, finance, engineering, and science stakeholders through clear written analyses and business-facing documents.

About the team

The Prime Video Science team is a multidisciplinary group of applied scientists, data scientists, economists, and engineers. We tackle some of the hardest research questions in the business, with visibility up to the CFO/CEO level. Our work sits at the intersection of machine learning, AI, and causal inference, driving innovations that improve customer experience and business profitability.

Requirements

• Master's degree or above in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science.
• 2+ years of data scientist experience.
• 2+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, MATLAB).
• 2+ years of experience with machine learning, statistical modeling, data mining, and analytics techniques.
• 1+ years of experience working with or evaluating AI systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science.
• Experience with machine learning/statistical modeling tools and techniques, including parameters that affect performance.
• Experience in a machine learning or data scientist role at a large technology company.
• Experience defining and creating benchmarks for assessing GenAI model performance.
• Experience applying quantitative analysis to solve business problems and make data-driven decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for conveying complex concepts.

Pay

Base salary range: $136,000 – $184,000 USD annually (locations: Culver City, CA; Seattle, WA).
