Data Scientist - Mid
About the role
Vantor is seeking multiple Data Scientists to join our team. This role supports the research, development, and implementation of advanced analytical methodologies and techniques that leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science approaches.
Responsibilities
- Work in tandem with analysts to figure out methods to solve their challenges with complex data sets, pattern identification, and visualizations.
- Perform research and implement forward-looking analytic methodologies that leverage statistical techniques and pattern recognition.
- Aid analysts in developing structured approaches to predictive intelligence that increase timeliness and accuracy of assessments.
- Expand existing Natural Language Processing (NLP) to include new entities and improved visualization.
- Research and implement approaches that enhance analytical tradecraft (support critical thinking, mitigate biases, increase analytic rigor).
- Research and implement advanced analytic methodologies that enhance tradecraft, mitigate bias, and improve analytic efficiency.
- Support the automation of structured analytic methods and workflows to increase repeatability and scalability of intelligence production.
- Design and build visualizations and dashboards that communicate complex data insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Evaluate and optimize analytic performance using qualitative and quantitative metrics.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen and have an active TS/SCI with CI poly.
- 8 years of experience and an advanced degree.
- Experience with Git and software development workflows.
- Demonstrated experience with Python, R, and SQL, including programmatic access to web services, data management, and visualization.
- Possesses knowledge and experience with artificial intelligence (AI), advanced analytics, cloud architecture, and data storage.
Qualifications
- Polished oral and written communication skills sufficient to compose, tailor, and deliver original presentations and papers on abstract concepts.
- Familiarity with graph databases or graph data structures.
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams to complete complex data science projects.
- Experience with AWS or similar cloud provider.
- Experience in solving problems with structured and unstructured data.
- Experienced in applying statistical and data visualization skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
- Proven ability to learn and master new software, technologies and techniques.
- Familiarity with generative AI and large language models (LLMs) and their strengths and weaknesses when applied to intelligence requirements.
- Experience in two or more of the following: Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Apache Spark, Hadoop, R, C++, SQL Database/Coding, or visualization tools such as Tableau.

Pay
The starting pay for this role will fall within the listed range and will be based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, location, and market conditions. Candidates who meet the minimum requirements for the role should not expect to receive compensation at the top of the range. The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 - $132,000.00 annually. For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
