Data Scientist I

Brief Description

Knowesis is seeking a Data Scientist I to support the USSOCOM POTFF program. The role involves identifying and implementing innovative solutions to improve the well-being of SOF warriors and their families.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Conducts basic data analytics, data manipulation, data mining, exploratory analysis, predictive analysis, and statistical analysis.
• Uses scientific techniques to correlate data into graphical, written, visual, and verbal narrative products.
• Enters and analyzes data within government systems.
• Maintains dashboards to automate data analysis, identifying, interpreting, and presenting trends.
• Affords consultation and assistance to supported units and POTFF staff to identify opportunities and methods for capturing data related to POTFF programs and initiatives.
• Works in consultation with POTFF program staff and the Government’s POTFF biostatistician.
• Provides subject matter expertise in program evaluation, research methodologies, and data analysis.
• Utilizes statistics/modeling tools and data visualization techniques to provide an accessible way to see and understand trends, outliers, and patterns in data.
• Produces reports and presentations that accurately convey data trends supporting the mission.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in quantitative science, social science, or a related discipline.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access).
• Basic proficiency with statistical software applications (SPSS, SAS, Python, R-Shiny).
• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication, and presentation skills.
• Sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills, and social sensitivity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification or documented experience with Human Performance.
• Experience working with Special Operations, athletics/sports, or other military settings.
• Strong technical and analytical skills in data visualization/development (Power BI, Tableau), and Microsoft Power Apps.
