Data Governance Analyst
About the role
Our client is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to support enterprise data management and governance initiatives. This role works closely with business and technology stakeholders to improve data quality, maintain governance standards, and ensure data assets are well-defined, documented, and managed across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Support data governance and enterprise data management initiatives.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to define, document, and maintain metadata, data definitions, and business glossaries.
- Perform data analysis, profiling, validation, and reconciliation activities across multiple data sources.
- Identify data quality issues, document findings, and support remediation efforts.
- Maintain governance documentation, meeting records, processes, and related artifacts.
- Assist with data stewardship activities, governance forums, workshops, and change management efforts.
- Promote data literacy, data quality, and standardized data management practices across the organization.
- Develop actionable insights and recommendations through analysis and investigation of data-related issues.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Analysis, Business Intelligence, or a related field, with strong SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, aggregations, and data profiling, as well as advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Experience working with metadata management, data dictionaries, or business glossaries.
- Strong documentation and process-mapping skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within Agile and/or DevOps environments.
- Familiarity with enterprise data catalog or metadata management platforms.
- Experience with data quality monitoring, scorecards, or rules management tools.
- Understanding of data lineage, reference data, master data, and data stewardship concepts.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and controls.
- Experience supporting compliance, privacy, risk, or regulatory data initiatives.
- Familiarity with work management and issue tracking tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar platforms.
