What You’ll Do
The Confidential Client is hiring a Data Analyst to be the analytical engine behind product, marketing, and operations decisions. You’ll translate transactional and behavioral data into clear, actionable insights, build the company’s reporting layer, and partner with product and engineering teams to measure impact.
- Write complex SQL to extract, transform, and analyze multi-million-row datasets (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift or similar).
- Design, build, and maintain production-grade dashboards and reports in Looker (LookML), Tableau, or Power BI for executive and product stakeholders.
- Perform exploratory and deep-dive analyses to surface product friction, churn drivers, and growth opportunities.
- Design and analyze A/B tests: define sample sizes, track metrics, and communicate statistical significance and business impact.
- Build and schedule data transformation models using dbt to create a reliable analytics layer.
- Partner with data engineering and product teams to identify instrumentation gaps and ensure accurate event tracking for web and mobile.
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to non-technical stakeholders and influence product decisions with data.
What We’re Looking For
We want practical analysts who combine strong technical skills with business judgment.
- 1–3 years of experience in data analyst, business analyst, or similar quantitative roles.
- Advanced SQL skills: window functions, CTEs, complex joins, and query performance optimization.
- Hands-on experience with BI tools (Looker/LookML, Tableau, or Power BI) and building structured dashboards for stakeholders.
- Familiarity with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
- Solid understanding of statistics: hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, experiment design, and interpreting results.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills — you can explain technical results to product and business teams.
- Bonus: experience with Python or R for exploratory analysis and/or production dbt model development.
Location & Work Arrangement
- Role location: Raleigh, NC (Confidential Client). The position supports telecommute/remote work arrangements — candidates in the USA are encouraged to apply.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Minimum Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a quantitative field preferred.
- 12+ months professional analytical experience (or demonstrable portfolio of analytical projects).
