Data Entry Clerk
About the role
The Data Entry Clerk is responsible for hazardous data entry (including creation and updates) to support the booking and billing process. They work with the National Cargo Bureau in relation to dangerous cargo manifests, provide the United States Coast Guard with documentation relating to hazardous data, convert Dangerous Cargo Manifests for billing purposes, collect market share data for reporting and analysis, cover rotating overnight shift for the port of Oakland’s hazardous data document requirements, provide supplementary coverage as required, and may act as secondary backup to other administrative functions as needed. They may also generate periodic and ad hoc statistical reports for managers as needed.
Responsibilities
- Enter, update, and verify the accuracy of hazardous data.
- Work with the National Cargo Bureau in relation to dangerous cargo manifests.
- Provide the United States Coast Guard with documentation relating to hazardous data originating in multiple port locations.
- Convert Dangerous Cargo Manifests for billing purposes.
- Collect market share data for reporting and analysis.
- Use video playback software.
- Cover rotating overnight shift for the port of Oakland’s hazardous data document requirements.
- Provide supplementary coverage as required.
- Generate periodic and ad hoc statistical reports for managers as needed.
Requirements
- High productivity with a sense of the importance of quality and accuracy.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Good aptitude for systems specifically with Excel, Word, internet, and email.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.

Qualifications
- Minimum High School or GED.
- Requires Six (6) months to one (1) year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with video playback software.
