Data Engineering Intern

About the role

The Data Engineer Intern will join the Data Engineering Team, collaborating closely with application teams and data pipelines to design, develop, and optimize data flow across the organization. Your work will directly impact data consumers, executives, and analysts by enabling valuable data insights at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the next-generation data platform.
• Develop and automate data processing systems to deliver enterprise-scale data insights.
• Implement logging, metrics, and alerts for active monitoring of data processes.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Application teams to create data models and schemas for easy access to complex datasets.
• Assist in maintaining data integrity in production systems.
• Balance and prioritize multiple conflicting requirements with high attention to detail.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 1+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, and implementing scalable data warehouse and BI solutions.
• Hands-on experience with real-time data pipelines (Kinesis, Kafka).
• Understanding of database architecture, including MPP and ad-hoc analysis using BI/analytical tools (Tableau, Pentaho, OBIEE, Power BI).
• Proven ability to analyze complex business problems using data and translate them into actionable insights.
• Experience with ETL and data blending/transformation tools (Pentaho Data Integrator, Talend, Informatica).
• Enterprise development knowledge of databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and columnar databases (Vertica, Snowflake, MemSQL, Netezza, Redshift).
• Strong understanding of technology and industry trends to make informed decisions on integrated solutions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical audiences at all levels, including influencing senior leaders.
