Data Engineering Intern
Job Summary
This position is responsible for supporting the Engineering team by assisting with data analysis, pipeline development, and software engineering tasks under the mentorship of a Senior Analytics and AI Engineer. The co-op will gain hands-on experience working with production data systems while contributing to real projects that inform business decisions across the organization.
Essential Job Functions
- Write and maintain Python scripts for data ingestion, transformation, and analysis
- Build and query SQL databases; assist in designing summary tables for recurring data requests
- Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) and produce visualizations to surface actionable insights
- Contribute to shared codebases following established Git workflows, including code review participation
- Absorb and document data pipelines, processes, and analytical findings for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Take on well-scoped software engineering tasks and bug fixes under direct mentorship
- Understand and display WLT's values
Minimum Requirements
- SQL proficiency; ability to write and maintain stored procedures and data pipelines
- Proficiency in Python with experience using data analysis libraries preferred
- Familiarity with version control using Git (branching, pull requests, code review)
- Exposure to Power BI or similar data visualization tools preferred
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) a plus
Education Or Certification
- Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university degree program; co-op/internship program enrollment welcome but not required
Experience
- Prior coursework, project work, or internship experience involving data analysis or software development preferred
- Experience working with real-world datasets in an academic or professional setting preferred
- No prior professional experience required; a demonstrated portfolio of projects is valued
Skills

Pay
Wilson has identified the anticipated pay range for this role based on the many factors that we consider in defining compensation levels for our roles, including market data, and internal equity considerations. Actual pay will vary based on geographic location, education, work experience, skills, market data, and internal equity considerations. Anticipated Pay Range: $25 to $30 per hour
