About the Role
We are looking for a VMware Platform Engineer to design, deploy, and operate VMware-based virtualization, software-defined networking, and software-defined storage platforms across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments. The role covers vSphere, vSAN, NSX, Aria, and Tanzu, with a focus on automation, capacity management, and the practical realities of operating a large VMware estate alongside modern cloud-native workloads. The ideal candidate has operated VMware platforms at enterprise scale, navigates the evolving VMware product landscape pragmatically, and brings strong automation and operations discipline.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and operate VMware-based virtualization, software-defined networking, and software-defined storage platforms
- Manage vSphere, vSAN, NSX, Aria, and Tanzu environments
- Implement automation and capacity management for large VMware estates
- Troubleshoot compute, network, and storage layers
- Collaborate on disaster recovery patterns and SRM
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Five or more years of hands-on VMware platform engineering experience
- Deep expertise in vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi
- Hands-on experience with vSAN and storage policy management
- Experience with NSX-T or NSX-V networking
- Strong PowerCLI scripting skills and experience with automation tooling
- Familiarity with Tanzu Kubernetes Grid or VMware container platforms
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery patterns and SRM
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VCAP credentials
- Experience with VMware Cloud on AWS, AVS, or GCVE
- Familiarity with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
- Experience with Aria Operations / vRealize Operations
- Exposure to migration programs out of VMware to alternative virtualization platforms
