About the role

Vultr is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Center Technician to support the expansion of our global fleet of GPU and CPU servers. This role involves maintaining and deploying hyperscale infrastructure, responding to critical incidents, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Installing and performing ongoing maintenance on servers and network equipment, including rack & stack, cabling, and physical configuration.
  • Responding to reported server, network, and infrastructure issues.
  • Ensuring that power, cooling, and other facility services are functioning properly; coordinating any maintenance and addressing outages.
  • Effectively managing assigned tickets and work requests, performing diagnosis and repairs to hardware.
  • Replacing server components such as CPU, memory, drives, motherboards, and network cables.
  • Working with vendor warranty technicians to resolve any warranty issues promptly and correctly.
  • Proactively identifying issues and developing plans to enhance efficiency and address them.
  • Setting up, maintaining, and documenting spare parts inventory.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve deployment efficiency, automation, and monitoring.
  • Escalating issues as necessary to ensure prompt resolution, assisting system admins in debugging network, hardware, and Linux OS-related issues.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a data center as a technician or similar role, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting server and network equipment.
  • Firm understanding of GPU hardware and liquid cooled rack solutions.
  • Ability to work independently to manage projects within the facility.
  • Firm understanding of servers, network equipment, and data center facility services like power, cooling, and cross connections to service providers.
  • Experience with troubleshooting, building, repairing, and upgrading servers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, collaborative nature, and a friendly can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-availability environment and respond to incidents proactively.
  • A strong desire and aptitude for solving problems.
  • Ability to logically analyze and solve problems.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Pay

$60,000 - $95,000 Final compensation will vary depending on years of experience, background/skill set, location, and applicable laws.
