Data Center Technician

Job Summary

Randstad is responsible for the day-to-day management of state-of-the-art data center operations across the United States for a multinational banking and financial services holding company. The company is the largest of its kind in the U.S. with total worldwide assets exceeding US$2 trillion.

Responsibilities

• Data Center Site Engineer
• Physical/hands-on worker
• Rotating shift schedule with extra days off
• Opportunities for growth and advancement
• Diverse workload with varied tasks each day
• Rack and stack enterprise-class technology (network, storage, and enterprise servers)
• Run, trace, dress, and test copper and fiber cables
• Commission and decommission hardware
• Perform component replacement (DIMMs, hard drives, power supplies)
• Adhere to change control processes

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a complex high-availability data center environment
• Layer one hardware installation, ongoing maintenance, problem identification, and incident resolution
• Hands-on expertise with mid-range systems in large-scale (100+ servers) environments (IBM, HP, Oracle, & Dell)
• Exceptional troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
• Strong understanding of switch/port configurations
• Critical thinking and decision-making related to outage risk assessment
• Strong cable management skills and experience managing fiber/copper in a data center environment
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs, walk long distances, and use a step stool when needed

Desired Skills & Experience

• Certifications: A+, Server+, or Network+
• Technical writing and documentation skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
