Data Center Technician
A summary
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking Data Center Technicians to support its customers in multiple locations. This position requires the successful candidate to report to a site location and support the overall availability and reliability of data center operations. Candidates should be willing to work both independently and with a team, and may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and nights.
Key job responsibilities
- Perform server rack installations, hardware break-fix, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability.
- Serve as a primary contact point for both internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.
- Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
- Help train and onboard new team members.
Work schedule
This position involves shift work that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates are required to have a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license to travel within the regional work area.
About the team
The team works in an environment that operates 24/7. They take ownership of technical issues, solve problems at their root, and maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting. They engage other teams when needed to drive resolution and contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
- 1+ years of computer networking experience
- High school or equivalent diploma
Preferred qualifications
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution
- Operating efficiently under pressure
- Experience dealing with customers during problem resolution
