About the role

We are hiring a Data Center System Administrator in Charlotte, North Carolina, to provide a mix of on-site and remote support. This role requires on-site presence at the customer's office 3 days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and manage the physical infrastructure of a data center, ensuring smooth operation, reliability, and security.
  • Monitor power and cooling systems and network connectivity.
  • Debug and troubleshoot hardware and system software issues.
  • Manage operating system deployment and administration.
  • Perform hardware break-fix, replacements, and installations.
  • Respond to alerts, perform preventative maintenance, roll out and upgrade firmware, and manage issues to minimize downtime and optimize data availability.
  • Serve as the customer’s Single Point of Contact (SPOC).
  • Follow up and report progress on all issues; respond to users and provide daily operational support for the cluster.
  • Handle daily system administration tasks, including granting and deleting access.
  • Investigate and correct defects in the cluster as reported, adhering to service levels.
  • Resolve errors by developing, testing, and implementing system changes.
  • Provide corrective and preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and isolate defects.
  • Perform software and firmware testing for fixes, upgrades, and security patches.
  • Update customer documentation to reflect system changes.
  • Compile monthly reports and participate in monthly customer service reviews.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Linux (e.g., Suse, RHEL, CentOS) and system administration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Confluent Slurm.
  • Experience in server, storage, and networking break-fix, installation, and replacement.
  • Ability to perform OS installation and upgrades without supervision.
  • Experience in system troubleshooting, monitoring, and support.
  • Strong customer service skills, including written and oral communication with clients.
