Data Center Project Manager, Critical Projects Implementation
About the role
We are seeking a Data Center Project Manager to serve as a technical resource within Amazon data centers. You will be part of a highly creative, efficient team tackling the most challenging problems in designing, building, and operating Amazon data center facilities. The Project Manager oversees and reviews all disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural, and is responsible for identifying areas for improvement as well as acting on data provided by other teams.
This role requires both independent contribution and collaboration within multi-disciplinary teams. Projects will include improvements to electrical, mechanical, fire detection, and building automation systems. The Project Manager ensures overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific projects, aligning them with company strategy, commitments, and goals.
About the team
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to innovation. The Critical Projects Implementation (CPI) team manages construction activity within operational data center spaces, focusing on critical infrastructure improvement projects to optimize space, power, and cooling globally.

Responsibilities
- Oversee and review projects across electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural disciplines.
- Identify areas for improvement and act on data from internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions to address operational challenges.
- Manage the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of projects.
- Ensure projects align with company strategy, commitments, and goals.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to execute critical infrastructure improvement projects.
- Improve electrical, mechanical, fire detection, and building automation systems in operational data centers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of construction or project management experience.
- 5+ years of experience managing projects in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure (e.g., facilities with 24/7 emergency backup systems, manufacturing, mass transportation, oil and gas, utilities, or hospitals).
- 5+ years in on-site construction trades (mechanical, electrical, general).
- Experience with vendor management.

- Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs, and incorporate feedback from internal and external stakeholders.

Pay
Base salary range: $111,300 - $186,100 USD annually (USA, TX, Wharton). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
