Data Center Project Manager, Critical Project Implementation

We are currently seeking an energetic Data Center Project Manager to join the Critical Projects Implementation (CPI) team, a project management and execution team that manages construction activity within operational data center spaces. The CPI team is tasked with critical infrastructure improvement projects to optimize utilization of space, power, and cooling within operational data centers globally. These activities are outside the scope of standard construction delivery and regular preventative maintenance tasks.

You will serve as a technical resource within Amazon data centers, overseeing projects that include—but are not limited to—improvements in electrical, mechanical, fire detection, and building automation systems. The role requires a fundamental understanding of these systems, as you will identify areas for improvement and act on data provided by other teams and organizations. This position demands both independent contribution and collaboration within multi-disciplinary teams to design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions addressing operational challenges.

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific projects, ensuring alignment with company strategy, commitments, and goals.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and review projects across all disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural.
• Identify areas for improvement and act on data from internal teams and external organizations.
• Manage the full project lifecycle, from planning to execution, ensuring consistency with company strategy and goals.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop and deploy innovative solutions for operational challenges.
• Prioritize and deliver projects on time in a fast-moving environment.
• Engage in vendor management and on-site construction oversight.

Requirements

• 5+ years of project management experience in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.
• 5+ years of construction or project management experience.
• 5+ years of experience managing projects in operational data centers or comparable critical infrastructure (e.g., facilities with 24/7 emergency backup systems, manufacturing plants, hospitals, utilities, or mass transportation).
• 5+ years of experience in on-site construction trades (mechanical, electrical, general).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, construction management, or a similar technical field (preferred).
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in critical data center operations, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units.
• Proven track record of being detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of following through on projects.

Pay

Base salary range: $111,300 – $186,100 USD annually.
