About the role

Transform the backbone of digital infrastructure by leading a dynamic team that builds and maintains the critical networks powering global technology. In this role, you'll drive operational excellence, optimize data center deployment strategies, and create seamless connectivity solutions that support Amazon's massive technological ecosystem. The Infrastructure Delivery Manager will manage the implementation and delivery of inbound capacity and equipment, oversee team development, track budgets, provide strategic direction, and propose technical solutions. You'll be responsible for installing and delivering network equipment and related infrastructures, as well as driving low voltage structured cabling across the Amazon data center platform.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This team supports all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to innovation. You’ll collaborate with diverse teams of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to deliver high standards for safety, security, and capacity at the lowest possible cost.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and assign tasks to data center technicians and operators, including project management, coaching, and documentation.
  • Manage inbound capacity from receiving through deployment stages.
  • Oversee the installation of network and cabling infrastructure in a data center environment.
  • Guide, train, and educate staff on best practices related to service owner issues.
  • Manage tasks and deliverables across small to large-size projects.
  • Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and required SLAs.
  • Provide weekly reports to the data center manager.
  • Coordinate team resources to support project and delivery needs, including emergency projects, change management, maintenance windows, and potential off-hours or on-call support.
  • Recruit and train data technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
  • Host weekly staff meetings.
  • Drive compliance with Amazon performance management requirements.

This role supports data centers in various operational stages. You may be assigned to a facility still under development, which could require travel to established locations for training until your designated site becomes fully operational.

Requirements

  • Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.
  • Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational.
  • Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status of assigned facility.
  • Candidates must be able to travel (over 50 miles) or commute (less than 50 miles) to active data center sites as required by business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of management/team lead function experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in a data center technology role and/or 4+ years of knowledge in TCP/IP networking, network cabling, fiber, optic types, and test equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Network Engineering), or experience in professional or military IT-related roles.
  • Certification in a relevant field (CCENT - Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician, Network+, or CCNA - Cisco Certified Network Associate).
  • Experience conducting behavioral interviews and hiring.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Experience with fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment, and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Experience contributing to the definition and implementation of automation opportunities within an operations environment.
  • Understanding of networking infrastructure topology.

Pay

USA, NC, HAMLET - $107,700.00 - $188,500.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
