About the role

Transform the backbone of digital infrastructure by leading a dynamic team that builds and maintains the critical networks powering global technology. In this role, you'll drive operational excellence, optimize data center deployment strategies, and create seamless connectivity solutions that support Amazon's massive technological ecosystem. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. You’ll support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to innovation. You’ll work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and collaborate with software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles across AWS.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop teams of technicians and engineers, providing technical and leadership expertise to ensure high performance.
  • Deliver capacity to existing data centers and help build and bring new data centers online.
  • Continuously improve processes and procedures.
  • Assist and manage relationships with external vendors and contractors.
  • Liaise with internal teams and management groups.
  • Ensure adherence to and exceed local health and safety standards in all data centers.
  • Create and maintain metrics for data center operations and use them to drive positive changes.
  • Assist in implementing service methodologies including incident, problem, change, and capacity management.
  • Support data centers in various operational stages, including potential travel to established locations for training until your designated site is fully operational.

Requirements

  • Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed (over 50 miles or less than 50 miles based on business needs).
  • Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training or until the assigned facility is operational.
  • 2+ years of data center experience or experience in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Networking Engineering).
  • 2+ years of people management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Network Engineering) or experience in professional or military IT-related roles.
  • Experience installing physical data center equipment such as copper/fiber cabling and racks.
  • Knowledge of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting.
  • Certification in a relevant field (e.g., CCENT, Network+, CCNA, A+, CND, Security+).
  • Experience conducting behavioral interviews and hiring.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, or holidays in a 24/7/365 environment.

Pay

Base salary range: $78,400.00 - $137,300.00 USD annually. The final compensation package includes sign-on payments, restricted stock units (RSUs), and comprehensive benefits such as health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
