Data Center Fiber optic Splicer

Duties

• Perform cable preparation within fiber splice cases, cabinets and communication shelters.
• Ability to perform Single and Mass Fusion fiber optic cable splicing, terminations and fiber optic testing.
• Conduct fiber splicing and testing using power meters, fusion splicers, OTDR equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair issues within the fiber optic network.
• Obtain and maintain company required tool supply.
• Utilize hand tools for cable management and installation.
• Collaborate with field service teams to ensure efficient operations.
• Tag and label fibers as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Fiber Splicing Technician (at least 2 years of experience splicing).
• Must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment processes, including criminal background check, driving record check, and substance screening.
• Proficiency in cable prep and splice closure techniques, fiber splicing, testing & troubleshooting.
• Ability to use hand tools effectively and safely.
• General Knowledge of Microsoft OS.
• Use critical thinking to work through problems in a logical manner.
• Maintain a professional and presentable appearance.
• Learn and follow PPE protocols.
• Knowledge and ability to work with power/hand tools.
• Time management and organizational skills.
• Prompt attendance to work and scheduled job sites.
• Capable of being part of a team and working closely with other team members.
• Safe handling of all products and preforming all assigned tasks.
• Able to communicate information.
• Able to crouch and crawl.
