About the role

Serve as the on-site SME for data center critical infrastructure, handling escalations across the white space and the supporting facilities.

Understand and manage the design limitations and risks of the site, and audit colocation partners and service providers on their maintenance programs and effectiveness.

Own the change management process for high-risk maintenance activities in the data center.

Act as first responder on-site for incidents, driving resolution with support from engineering and infrastructure SMEs.

Partner with colo partners, vendors, and internal teams to keep the site reliable, and feed operational learnings back into design and process.

Responsibilities

  • Handle escalations related to data center critical infrastructure.
  • Audit and manage maintenance programs of colocation partners and service providers.
  • Manage change processes for high-risk maintenance activities.
  • Respond to incidents and drive resolution with support from engineering and infrastructure teams.
  • Collaborate with colocation partners, vendors, and internal teams to ensure site reliability.
  • Feed operational learnings back into design and process improvements.

Requirements

  • Operated or led critical-facilities operations in a live data center, owning the physical infrastructure that keeps a site running.
  • Know the critical-infrastructure stack (power and cooling) well enough to be the on-site authority and handle escalations.
  • Run change management for high-risk work and hold partners to a real maintenance standard.
  • Be a calm, capable first responder when something fails at 3am.
  • Audit, document, and improve, leaving the site's operating posture stronger than you found it.

Qualifications

  • Critical environment and MOP/EOP experience.
  • Vendor and colo management experience.

Skills

  • Experience in operating or leading critical-facilities operations in a live data center.
  • Knowledge of the critical-infrastructure stack (power and cooling).
  • Change management expertise for high-risk work.
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively to incidents.
  • Experience auditing, documenting, and improving operational processes.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $140,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
