Data Center Facility Operations Manager

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. About the role

This role acts as Amazon’s front line for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. You will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot mission-critical data center facility equipment including:

• Electrical support equipment such as stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems
• 3-phase electrical systems including switchgear, UPS units, PDUs, and wet cell batteries and associated systems
• Mechanical equipment including CRAC units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers/water chemical systems, air handlers and associated systems, pumps, and motors
• Additional support equipment such as fire suppression systems, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical infrastructure
• Ensure that all work performed within the space is done to high quality and without impact to internal/external customers
• Oversee the safety, security, availability, quality, and performance of the team, while driving a positive customer experience across multiple shift schedules
• Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians and Facility Managers in all facets of their career
• Engage in improvement projects, often requiring outreach to a variety of support teams, and drive them from conception to completion
• Ensure staffing levels are maintained and grow with expansions
• Be actively involved in ongoing construction activities
• Coordinate daily with a multitude of third-party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs
• Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures

Requirements

• 3+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
• 5+ years of work in a managerial/supervisory role with 8-10 or more direct reports
• Must be able to work in an environment that involves walking, stooping, bending, and climbing to access equipment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or equivalent or 7+ years of experience working in a data center or other mission-critical environment with an emphasis on building and equipment operation
• Experience communicating technical details verbally and in writing
• Experience conducting behavioral interviews and hiring

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations including systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units

Pay

USA, OH, Plain City - $129,200.00 - $193,000.00 USD annually
