As part of the Data Center Engineering Operations team, you will maintain and operate critical infrastructure systems to ensure they are prepared to stand up against any situation. This role involves collaborating with bright minds worldwide to test and implement new technology and work practices, helping define industry leadership through a passion for learning and evolving.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise and manage a team of Individual Contributors (ICs), potentially across multiple sites or portions of a campus.
• Balance tactical and strategic management with guidance from leadership, upholding high standards for safety, security, and policy adherence.
• Optimize workflows and best practices, mentoring and developing peers and teams both within and outside your direct organization.
• Manage site or campus responses to complex technical problems, removing blockers and making trade-offs between time, quality, and resources.
• Oversee the building of operationally-specific infrastructure in existing and new locations, acting as a Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) in data center engineering operations.
• Maintain high availability and performance of data center critical physical infrastructure while ensuring work is performed to a high quality without impacting internal or external customers.
• Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians, prioritizing and assigning tasks, managing projects, coaching, and creating documentation.
• Train and educate staff on best practices related to service owner issues and manage the operations budget and expenditures efficiently.
• Drive improvement projects from conception to completion, coordinating with multiple support teams and third-party vendors to ensure adherence to contracted SLAs.
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences and respond to out-of-hours emergency calls as a second-level escalation point for facilities-related issues.
• Oversee the operation and management of critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, and building monitoring systems.
• Ensure all safety procedures are followed during work, testing the quality, performance, safety, and reliability of products, equipment, and processes.
• Perform physical tasks including walking job sites in uneven terrain, working on ladders, lifting up to 39 pounds independently, and participating in group lifts for heavier items.
• Regularly perform activities requiring physical agility such as walking, using hands and fingers, handling objects, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs, twisting, bending, working above shoulders, grasping, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
• Support operations across more than one location or site as needed.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in a management or team lead role.
• 1+ years of experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem-solving.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or other critical environment with extensive knowledge of UPS, generators, HVAC, evaporators, and other critical infrastructure, or 7+ years of technical training and/or experience (Military/Trade School).

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of work experience in data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operation.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units.
• Advanced electrical or mechanical certifications (e.g., Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline).
• 5+ years of experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports and other managers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing or business justifications (e.g., white paper experience).

Pay

Base salary range: $134,900.00 - $197,000.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
