About the role

Join Earth’s most customer-centric company as part of the Data Center Engineering Operations team. You’ll work with front-line responders to maintain and operate critical infrastructure systems in some of the world’s most sophisticated, safe, and secure data centers. This role involves collaborating with global teams to test and implement new technology and practices, ensuring 24/7 reliability and availability for AWS’s cloud computing portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily building rounds to monitor and record data from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning within internal SLA.
  • Execute preventative maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Technical writing to support the change management program.
  • Monitor and resolve daily work requests, and execute projects from conception to completion.
  • Provide on-site support for contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with established practices and local legislation.

Requirements

  • Willingness and ability to work in physical conditions with reasonable accommodations, including:
    • Regularly lifting and/or moving up to 39 pounds independently.
    • Participating in group lifts for 40+ pounds.
    • Maintaining balance and performing tasks while on a ladder.
    • Walking, using hands and fingers, handling or feeling, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs, twisting, bending, working above shoulders, grasping, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects.
    • Working in environments requiring ear protection.
  • Ability to work shifts longer than eight hours in duration.
  • 2+ years of practical experience in electrical systems, mechanical systems, HVAC, and/or fire suppression systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of network design and layout, as well as low voltage (copper/fiber) cabling.
  • Experience in data center engineering.

Schedule

This position operates 24/7 and requires on-site presence. Two shift schedule options are available:

  • Option 1: Weekend Rotation
    • Days Worked: Sunday - Tuesday, plus every other Saturday.
    • Weekly Pattern: Alternates between 3-day and 4-day work weeks.
    • Shift Hours: 5:30am - 6:00pm (day shift) OR 5:30pm - 6:00am (night shift).
  • Option 2: Weekday Rotation
    • Days Worked: Wednesday - Friday, plus every other Saturday.
    • Weekly Pattern: Alternates between 3-day and 4-day work weeks.
    • Shift Hours: 5:30am - 6:00pm (day shift) OR 5:30pm - 6:00am (night shift).

Both schedules follow a rotating pattern where you’ll work 3 days one week and 4 days the following week. Some locations may require on-call rotations, and the role may support multiple sites.

Pay

  • Base Salary Range: $37.64 - $65.91 USD hourly (varies by location).
  • Overtime: Time and a half after 40 hours per week.
  • Night Shift Differential: 13% additional pay for shifts between 6:00pm - 6:00am.
  • Maximum Hours: Up to 60 hours per week (including up to 20 hours of overtime).
