Data Center Crew Lead
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Center Crew Lead to oversee structured cabling and telecommunications infrastructure projects within a large-scale hyperscale data center environment. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise in fiber optics, cabling installation, testing, and crew management. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading installation teams, maintaining safety and quality standards, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise field crews on major telecommunications and data center infrastructure projects.
- Assign tasks, provide guidance, and ensure team productivity and quality performance.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and enforce all workplace safety standards.
- Coordinate daily activities with Project Managers and Project Leads to ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Monitor project progress and assist with resource planning to maintain schedule and budget requirements.
- Perform and oversee fiber optic and copper cabling installation, termination, splicing, and testing.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective solutions in the field.
- Conduct quality assurance inspections and verify completed work meets project specifications.
- Coordinate moves, adds, changes, and cross-connect activities for network infrastructure.
- Maintain and update red-lined as-built documentation.
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for customers, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Attend project, construction, and facility meetings as required.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and on time, including timesheets, work orders, change orders, material tracking, and tool inventories.
- Support training and development of junior technicians.
- Escalate personnel or project concerns to management when appropriate.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading crews of at least five technicians on structured cabling, telecommunications, or data center projects.
- Strong experience handling, routing, and installing fiber optic cabling.
- Experience terminating fiber optic and copper cabling.
- Experience performing cable certification and testing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Data center construction or hyperscale data center experience.
- Fiber optic splicing experience.
- Experience with Cat5e, Cat6, and low-voltage network infrastructure.
- Experience with punch-down terminations and cross-connect systems.
- Knowledge of telecommunications industry standards and best practices.
- OSHA, BICSI, or similar industry certifications.

- Cable strippers
- Measuring and leveling tools
- Hand tools commonly used in structured cabling installations
Work Environment
- Large-scale data center construction environment.
- Active construction site requiring adherence to strict safety standards.
- Frequent standing, climbing ladders, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Work may involve elevated work areas and fast-paced project schedules.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
