About the role

The Datacenter Controls Engineer manages and administers datacenter Electric Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS). They report to the Operations Controls Manager and are responsible for strategy, troubleshooting, and maintenance of these systems. They also identify, develop, and manage operational expenses (OpEx) projects, provide feedback on designs, and ensure maintainability. This role requires familiarity with various systems and a strong background in critical monitoring and control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all connected systems and integrations (BMS, EPMS, and DCIM) are operating nominally
  • Configure DCIM system applications in support of new deployments and data requirements
  • Draft, issue, and maintain DCIM systems support documentation, test plans, and change management records
  • Participate and support facility incident management response, support facilities staff
  • Coordinate field work as required, including any necessary contractor supervision
  • Perform inspections and attend commissioning of facility systems (as required)
  • Participate in on-call duty; to include providing off-hour emergency support as needed
  • Lead maintenance and modification of controls on equipment to facilitate more efficient operation
  • Join and actively participate in lessons-learned sessions to assist with providing feedback to design teams

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience with critical monitoring and control systems and support for critical facilities
  • BS in Engineering, Engineering Technology, other related degree, or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of and experience with BMS and EPMS systems
  • Familiarity with central chilled water plant systems, CRAH Units, and facility operations
  • Familiarity with power distribution systems in a data center environment, to include PDUs, STSs, PQMs, and low voltage (
  • Up to 25% travel required (1-2 weeks per month, M-F)
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tridium Niagara 4 certification
  • Understanding of network implementation
  • Working knowledge of virtualized environments
  • Working knowledge of SQL database systems
  • Two or more years of experience with various Direct Digital Controllers (DDCC) such as Distech, ABB Cylon, KMC, Alerton, etc
  • Experience performing commissioning activities as it relates, but not limited to: Chiller plants, process water systems, building automation systems, low voltage switchgear and protection schemes, etc
  • Ability to read, interpret, and produce engineering documents that may include: Control Drawings, Sequence of Operations, Bill of Materials, Graphical User Interface requirements, and Specifications
  • Experience with BACnet, Modbus, TCP/IP configuration, SNMP communication protocols, Microsoft Office tools
  • Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills as well as excellent organization, multi-tasking, prioritizing, and teamwork skills
  • Excellent coordination skills between multiple stakeholders, third-party contractors, consultants and clients
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships and communication with staff, management, and customers
