Data & Automation Analyst | DCS (Software Investments)
About the role
Petra Funds Group is a single-source provider for fund administration and infrastructure needs for private equity and debt funds. At Petra, we enable fund managers to focus on the tasks that add the most value to their businesses and leave the rest to us. The Accounting Data and Automation Analyst will provide dedicated technical execution capacity for Vista Equity Partners’ Fund Accounting team, maintaining and enhancing the data and automation solutions that support quarterly fund accounting and reporting. This role combines hands-on Python and SQL development with Excel-based tooling to keep the team's Snowflake queries, review workbooks, and Power Automate workflows running reliably and improving over time. The ideal candidate is a strong, independent technical builder with Python and SQL/Snowflake experience who can execute against a defined roadmap.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot the team's existing data and automation solutions, supporting quarterly capital call, distribution, and financial statement review processes.
- Design, build, and test prioritized enhancements and new capabilities, including Power Automate workflows and Sigma Computing dashboard that extend automation across the fund reporting cycle.
- Strengthen documentation, testing, and control frameworks around existing and new solutions, ensuring tools remain transparent, reproducible, and audit-ready.
- Standardize solutions across funds and processes, consolidating one-off scripts into reusable tools, and reduce key-person dependency through knowledge transfer.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, including experience with Snowflake or a comparable cloud data warehouse.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 3+ years of experience building and maintaining data or automation solutions, ideally in finance, accounting, or fund administration.
- Comfort working independently against a defined set of priorities, translating business requirements into working technical deliverables.
- Experience with Azure Functions, Power Automate, or advanced Excel/VBA is a plus, though not required.
- Familiarity with private equity fund accounting structures and concepts — general ledgers, capital accounts, waterfalls — is a plus but not required.
- Strong organizational skills, clear communication, and the initiative to work as a long-term embedded technical partner.
