About the role

Under the supervision of the RSDA Family Support Services Data Analytics (FSSDA) Manager, the Data Analyst V performs highly complex (senior level) data collection, research, reporting, and analysis to monitor, evaluate, and increase efficiencies for Family Support Services (FSS). Work involves gathering and analyzing requirements, report design and implementation, and ongoing maintenance of existing reports and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Extract data from IMPACT, CLASS, PEIRS, IMARC, CAPPS(HR), or other agency databases.
  • Design, validate, and implement report methodologies for FSS while documenting processes and procedures for technical and non-technical users.
  • Develop programming code and report design to ensure user requests are properly translated into useful reports.
  • Prepare data for visualization software products and develop associated dashboards.
  • Participate in data system design meetings for new agency initiatives to provide strategic guidance and ensure the agency’s ability to report relevant data.
  • Interact routinely with agency program staff, division managers, and other analysts to provide strategic guidance so requirements are met and work products are appropriately reviewed and validated.
  • Perform quality assurance tasks to ensure the accuracy of reports created by colleagues within the division for distribution to the agency or the public.
  • Provide suggestions regarding systematic changes that will improve the collection of data and align data infrastructure with business needs.
  • Provide routine updates on the status of projects and initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of: statistics and analyzing data sets; running queries, report writing, and presenting findings; record keeping, including security procedures for handling, protecting, and distributing confidential data; relational databases, data processing practices, and theory; FSS data.
  • Skill in: researching and troubleshooting data issues and solving complex problems; report development and automation; complex analytic work, identifying trends and concerns, and recommending opportunities for improvement as well as areas of excellence; using software such as SQL, SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, Tableau, Excel, TOAD, Oracle, SQL Developer, Snowflake, Business Intelligence tools, and/or Python.
  • Ability to: work hours as needed to meet defined deadlines and support the agency’s mission-critical reporting requirements; present information to a variety of audiences verbally and in writing and to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively; exercise independent judgment and show initiative; analyze, consolidate, and interpret complex data, procedures, and systems and to write or revise program code or prepare reports as required; comprehend data solutions, reporting methodologies, math, and statistical report design; creatively solve complex data problems, apply new technology, and perform detailed work accurately under stressful conditions while managing multiple projects and tight deadlines.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field.
  • Experience in data analysis, compilation, and reporting work.
  • Experience with Oracle, SQL Developer, Toad, Snowflake, or other database development tools.
  • Experience with Tableau or other data visualization tools.
  • Experience and education may be substituted for one another, up to four years.
  • Experience with data and applications related to development of Family Support Services program reports and visualizations is preferred.

Pay

$6,377.50 – $8,581.66 per month

Schedule

Day shift; eligible for telework; up to 5% travel.
