About the role

The Data Analyst I performs entry-level data analysis and data research work within the Division of Fraud Deterrence and Compliance Monitoring (FDCM). This position involves conducting detailed analysis of, and extensive research on, data and providing results. Work is performed under close supervision, with minimal latitude for using initiative and independent judgment.

Work can be performed from any city in Texas, though the main office is located at 101 E. 15th St, Austin, Texas. TWC is not considering applications from individuals who require sponsorship for an employment visa, including those with H1B visas or those currently on student or postgraduate visas. You must be a Texas resident or willing to relocate to Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data using standard statistical tools, methods, and techniques.
  • Consult with internal and external customers to identify data analytics needs.
  • Interpret results to identify significant differences in data.
  • Assist in identifying and interpreting data patterns and trends and assessing data quality.
  • Assist with the implementation of databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports to present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and make and justify recommendations on data revisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of GED certification.
  • Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
  • Acceptance into a TWC Internship or TWC Apprenticeship will satisfy the minimum qualifications.

Skills

  • Knowledge of statistics and ability to compile and analyze data sets.
  • Working knowledge of UI (Unemployment Insurance) program.
  • Knowledge of childcare programs.
  • Skill in developing meaningful metrics and dashboards to measure targets.
  • Ability to present and report on data findings.
