About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst specializing in billing and revenue analytics to join our team. In this role, you will leverage your in-depth understanding of financial data landscapes to proactively identify opportunities, optimize revenue streams, and influence strategic business decisions. Acting as a trusted advisor to finance and business stakeholders, you will translate complex billing, transactional, and revenue data into compelling visual stories through dashboards and reports that highlight financial trends and performance metrics. Your expertise will drive the development of efficient, reusable, and self-service analytical models focused on revenue recognition and billing accuracy, establishing yourself as an authority in our financial data sources, quality, and governance practices. You will champion data integrity, collaborate across teams, and orchestrate data-driven solutions that directly impact the company's bottom line. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely within the United States and provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to GitHub's financial insights and strategic planning.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis, reporting, data science, business intelligence, or financial analysis
  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics, or a related field, with at least 1+ year of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in SQL, KQL, and/or Python for data querying and transformation
  • Experience developing and maintaining ETL pipelines using tools such as Azure Data Factory, Airflow, or similar
  • Strong skills in data visualization tools including Power BI and Tableau, with a solid understanding of data storytelling best practices
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance revenue reporting across various products, geographies, and segments to identify growth opportunities, performance trends, and risks
  • Partner with Sales Operations and Finance teams to analyze sales commissions, quota attainment, and incentive plan effectiveness, providing actionable insights to optimize compensation strategies
  • Build models and dashboards connecting pipeline metrics, bookings, and billed revenue to enable accurate forecasting and decision-making
  • Consolidate and align data from Salesforce, billing platforms, and financial systems to create a reliable single source of truth for revenue and commission reporting
  • Support territory and quota planning by providing data-driven recommendations based on historical performance and market potential
  • Deliver clear, concise, and actionable revenue and commission insights to senior leadership through dashboards, scorecards, and presentations
  • Automate recurring revenue and commission reports to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and scalability for self-service use across the organization
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and data privacy regulations in all revenue reporting activities
