Data Analyst I or II
About the Role
The Data Analyst (I or II) reports to the CASI Research Administrative Manager, the CASI Center Director, and Division Leadership. This role involves conducting observational data analyses, working with raw data from various sources such as administrative claims and electronic health records, and using large longitudinal datasets. The ideal candidate has strong analytic and methodological skills, excellent communication skills, and a personal mission to improve care for older adults or those living with serious illness.
Responsible for extracting knowledge and insights from data to investigate business and operational problems through data preparation, modeling, analysis, and visualization techniques.
Responsibilities
- Collect, analyze, and report data to support decisions on day-to-day operations, strategic planning, and business performance issues.
- Collate, model, interpret, and analyze data, explaining variances and trends.
- Identify and document enhancements to modeling techniques.
- Complete thorough quality assurance procedures to ensure accuracy, reliability, and validity of work.
- Perform data validation of source-to-target data for data visuals and dashboards.
- Work collaboratively with CASI and the Division on program evaluation, statistical analysis, reporting, database development, software programming, data management, and dashboard creation.
- Use SAS or other analytical software to clean data, build datasets, and run statistical analyses for multiple projects.
- Translate evaluation questions into analytic plans, construct analytic datasets by extracting raw data (including medical claims), and produce data summaries and valid statistical tests.
- Evaluate healthcare delivery models, contribute to scientific discovery, and grow in methodological expertise.
- Learn new methodological skills to advance science and program evaluation using state-of-the-art approaches.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Analysis, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- 2 or more years of healthcare bioinformatics and/or statistical analysis experience.
- Healthcare knowledge, particularly related to electronic medical record data, is preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of relational databases, SQL, data visualization, and Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau.
- Knowledge and application of statistical analyses, including variance analysis and statistical significance.
- Project management skills and/or experience are a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Strong analytic and data management skills, especially with clinical and biostatistical analyses.
- Practical problem-solving ability in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize work, operate under tight deadlines, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Strong programming skills in SAS and/or other analytic software, with willingness to learn new languages.
- Basic knowledge of statistical testing and multivariate modeling (e.g., logistic and linear regression, longitudinal models).
- Experience transforming and analyzing administrative healthcare data (e.g., Medicare/Medicaid, claims-based, or EPIC electronic medical records) is preferred.
- Experience compiling longitudinal datasets for analysis is preferred.
- Knowledgeable and compliant with hospital, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and JCAHO.

Pay
Annual pay range: $63,648.00 – $92,570.40 (Grade 6). The final offer will consider skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and other factors.
