Data Analyst - Healthcare
About the role
Apex Systems is hiring a Data Analyst for a large Healthcare client. This is a 1-year contract with potential to extend or convert to a full-time position. The role is partial remote, requiring 2 days a week onsite in Hyattsville, MD.
The Healthcare Data Analyst serves as a subject matter expert supporting financial and claims-based analytics, focusing on claims analysis, forecasting, trend evaluation, and delivering actionable insights to business and finance stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Perform claims-based financial analysis, including trend analysis, forecasting, and variance evaluation.
- Build and maintain forecasting models using claims data and financial datasets.
- Translate complex healthcare data into actionable insights for regional leadership.
- Develop dashboards and visualizations using Tableau and eventually Power BI.
- Conduct data storytelling to help stakeholders understand patterns, risks, and opportunities.
- Work with large datasets, data warehouses, and structured healthcare data systems.
- Collaborate with finance, operations, and cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for claims analytics and financial modeling.
Requirements
- 3–7+ years of experience in healthcare analytics or financial/claims analysis.
- Hands-on experience working with healthcare data, specifically claims data (professional, facility, pharmacy, etc.).
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and Excel.
- Experience building forecasting models using healthcare datasets.
- Experience with Tableau is required; familiarity with Power BI is a plus.
- Must reside in DC, Maryland, or Virginia and be able to work onsite in Hyattsville two days per week, including every Wednesday.

- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
Pay
The pay rate for this position is $65.00 per hour.
