About the role

The Healthcare Data Analyst performs complex data collection, reporting, and analysis to monitor, evaluate, and increase efficiencies for Lone Star Circle of Care (LSCC). This role involves conducting detailed analysis and extensive research on data used for financial estimates and operational deliverables, including providing results and monitoring data quality. The analyst collaborates with various teams to explore different aspects of a system (people, policy, and processes) to determine performance strengths or opportunities for improvement. This position may provide guidance to others and requires travel to other LSCC facilities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes data using standard statistical tools, methods, and techniques.
  • Consults with internal and external customers and LSCC staff to identify user needs.
  • Compiles and queries data.
  • Identifies data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies by analyzing the content, structure, and relationships within data.
  • Interprets results to identify significant differences in data.
  • Identifies and interprets data patterns and trends and assesses data quality.
  • Cleans and prunes data to discard irrelevant information.
  • Prepares concise, comprehensive technical reports to present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and make and justify recommendations on data revisions.
  • Assists in defining, developing, and implementing data standards.
  • Assists in developing data quality measures, analyzing data quality results, and implementing necessary changes to ensure data quality improvement.
  • Assists in developing statistical modeling and graphical analysis.
  • Creates comprehensive documentation for new developments, updates, and enhancements for both developers and end-users.
  • May develop and implement data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • May perform quality assurance and serve as a subject matter expert on data integrity, extraction, and compilation.
  • May guide the selection of data management tools and the development of standards, usage guidelines, and procedures for those tools.
  • May provide guidance to others.

Requirements

  • Experience in data, reporting, or business analytics.
  • Experience in gathering requirements for reporting.

Qualifications

The following experience and skills are preferred:

  • Experience and education may be substituted for one another, with experience in healthcare, Medicaid, or other medical report data preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field is generally preferred.
  • Knowledge of SQL preferred.
