About the role
CGI is seeking an experienced AWS Data Engineer to design, develop, and support scalable data solutions within a fast-paced financial services environment. This role is responsible for building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines, optimizing data processing workflows, and ensuring the integrity and quality of enterprise data.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable data solutions within a fast-paced financial services environment.
- Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and SQL.
- Optimize data processing workflows and ensure the integrity and quality of enterprise data.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions that support reporting, analytics, and operational needs.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, and development teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, or a related data-focused engineering role.
- Experience working in cloud-based AWS environments is strongly preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience developing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and SQL.
- Advanced SQL skills, including complex query development, performance tuning, stored procedures, and database optimization.
- Experience working with AWS data technologies such as AWS Lambda, Amazon Redshift, Apache Iceberg, Amazon Glacier, and other cloud-native data services.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing, relational database design, and Business Intelligence (BI) concepts.
- Experience performing source-to-target mapping, data validation, and data quality testing to ensure accurate and reliable reporting.
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
- Experience creating technical documentation, including data mappings, design documents, data dictionaries, and operational procedures.
- Comfortable working in Agile teams, participating in sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Familiarity with JIRA for managing user stories, defects, and project tracking.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Relevant AWS certifications (such as AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate) are a plus but not required.

To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $68,300 - $110,100.
