Data Analyst
About the role
The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) is seeking a Research Data Analyst I to support the administration of the CalPERS Health Benefits Program. This position involves data analysis, research, reporting, and data quality activities, preparing reports, presentations, and other analytical products for internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Support the administration of the CalPERS Health Benefits Program through data analysis, research, reporting, and data quality activities.
- Work with healthcare utilization, enrollment, premium, provider, and other health program data to respond to information requests, conduct analyses, identify and resolve data issues, and support operational and policy decision-making.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and other analytical products for internal and external stakeholders.
- Work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while supporting projects that help improve healthcare quality, affordability, and outcomes for approximately 1.5 million CalPERS members.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as statistics, public health, computer science, or a related field.
- Experience: One year of full-time paid work experience in data analysis, research, or a related field.
- Skills: Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills; proficiency in data analysis software such as Excel, SQL, SAS, R, Python, Power BI, Tableau, Access, or similar applications.

Pay
The starting salary range for this position is $4,469.00 - $5,079.00 A, $4,611.00 - $5,495.00 B, and $5,529.00 - $6,922.00 C, depending on qualifications and experience.
Schedule
This position is a hybrid role, offering up to 40% telework per week.
